In the first quarter of 2021, the fast food and fast casual restaurant industry's top apps demonstrated diverse user engagement and download metrics on the unified platform in the United States. Sensor Tower provides a detailed snapshot of how these apps performed during this period.

McDonald's kicked off the quarter with downloads hovering around 332K and saw a mid-quarter peak at approximately 324K before settling to nearly 295K by the end of March. Weekly active users started at about 4.4M, dipped to 4.1M in early February, but surged to over 5.2M in the third week of March, ending the quarter with around 4.8M active users.

The Starbucks app saw its downloads begin at roughly 263K and decline to 197K towards the end of January. The trend slightly reversed, with downloads picking up to nearly 222K towards the end of March. Weekly active users for Starbucks showed a similar pattern, starting at around 4.6M, dropping to 3.8M in early February, and climbing back up to close the quarter with around 4.8M users.

Chick-fil-A experienced its highest number of downloads in the second week of January at over 242K, with numbers fluctuating slightly throughout the quarter and ending at approximately 164K. Weekly active users remained relatively stable, starting at about 2.2M and experiencing a slight uptick to around 2.2M by the quarter's end.

Domino's Pizza USA saw initial downloads of around 191K, with a noticeable dip in late February to 127K but rebounded significantly to approximately 233K by the last week of March. Its active users also saw a dip in late February to about 2.5M but recovered to nearly 2.8M by the end of the quarter.

Lastly, Taco Bell Fast Food & Delivery began the quarter with over 130K downloads, which decreased to around 91K by the end of January. However, the app saw a significant spike to 192K downloads in mid-February before ending the quarter with about 116K downloads. Weekly active users started at approximately 661K, peaked at over 1M in mid-February, and then gradually decreased to around 883K by March's end.
